Founded by four well-reputed organizations, Global Organic TextileStandard (GOTS), is the world’s leading certification standard fororganic textiles including both ecological and social criteria. GOTScovers every step in the production process from the fibers to thefinished garment.

GOTS came about from the desire to harmonize existing standards sothat they were internationally recognized. Drawing on the input fromother relevant international stakeholder organizations and experts forregular standard updates, GOTS remains at the forefront of promotingethical practices in the textile industry.

Organic Content Standard (OCS) is a certification that verifies theamount of organic material in the final product and only considers thefibers used in the composition. The OCS initiative aims to encouragefarmers to transition to organic farming practices while providingsupport to companies in validating their organic claims.

There are two levels in OCS certification: OCS 100 is only givento products that contain 95–100% organic fibers. OCS blendedcertification is used for products that are a mix of organic materialblended with conventional materials.

RWS – Best practices on display
The Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) provides an opportunityfor farmers to demonstrate their best practices to the public,and a means for brands and consumers to have the certaintythat thewool products they buy and sell are in line with their values.

The RWS is a voluntary global standard that addresses the welfareof sheep and of the land they graze on. It provides verification ofthe practices that are happening at farm level, giving an open andtransparent process.

Regenerative organic farming aiming to reverse global warming
Regenerative practices work to maximize carbon fixation in the ground by increasing carbon-rich soil organic matter. This creates a drawdown effect of CO2 from the atmosphere. Using nature's own practices, regenerative organic farming starts with building a healthy soil.

By capturing carbon in soil and above-ground biomass, regenerative organic farming aims to reverse global warming. The practices also help avoid deforestation, one of our biggest climate threats, and put an end to desertification and soil degradation.

By collaborating with various stakeholders to develop innovative solutions – focusing on responsible sourcing, forest conservation, and accelerating forest recovery – FSC® goes beyond certification. Through their many initiatives, they actively contribute to creating healthier and more resilient forests worldwide.

Raising awareness on animal exploitation
PETA – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals – is the world's largest animal rights organization with over 9 million supporters globally. They oppose speciesism and focus on areas where animals suffer the most: laboratories, the food industry, the clothing trade, and the entertainment business. PETA also addresses other issues like cruelty to domesticated animals and the killing of rodents and birds.

Their work to raise awareness on animal exploitation involves public education, investigative reporting, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, protest campaigns, and celebrity collaborations.

Chetna Organic is dedicated to empowering small and marginal farmers in India by enhancing their livelihood opportunities and transforming farming into a qualitative and profitable occupation. Focusing on farmers residing in rainfed areas of Maharashtra, Odessa, and Andhra Pradesh, the organization has created remarkable results over the years.

The success of the Chetna Organic & Fair Trade Cotton project comes from collective action and the establishment of a fair supply chain. Thanks to this initiative, thousands of farmers have experienced positive transformations in their socio-economic circumstances, leading to stability and better prospects for their futures.

Retraced is a platform that helps fashion and textile companies digitize and trace their supply chains, manage compliance data, and achieve transparency throughout the production process. By promoting responsible practices for the planet, the company aims to accelerate and humanize the global fashion industry.

Retraced is dedicated to building a community of reliable brands, skilled suppliers, and individuals passionate about transforming manufacturing practices. Since its inception in 2018, the company has made rapid progress in developing its technical solution and has established offices in multiple countries. Retraced also received the German Sustainability Award for Digitalization.
